Your don’t have to pay 5% to 6% commissions any more as a home seller. Listing agents no longer serve the purpose they once did. It used to be sellers needed listing agents in order to put their homes in the local MLS system (even before the Internet was invented and MLSs went online). That’s not the case anymore. A listing definitely needs to be in the local MLS and get syndicated to all the national listing sites, but a Realtor who charges 5% or 6% just to do that is stealing your money. Understand that listing agents don’t do much. The one effective thing they do is put it in the MLS, but with flat fee listing services, your home can show up in the MLS and get syndicated everywhere.
