The Sequim real estate market is quite unique and a full explanation of how we got to this place and where this market is likely to go would be a short book. This is the briefest of explanations. Sequim has been a very popular retirement destination for several decades, but since we are off the I-5 corridor by a couple of hours, we are shielded by the explosive growth that occurs in many rural retirement havens.
Sequim Real Estate History
Over the years, Sequim has attracted some of the most extraordinary people, people who are well educated, mature psychologically and emotionally, and yet humble. The community is full of intelligent, mature, and financially conservative retirees. This means they haven’t overextended themselves by refinancing many times and pulling equity out of their homes, which also means we have very few foreclosures or short sales in Sequim.
Sequim Real Estate Market
The Sequim real estate market is very stable. But since the majority of our buyers come from out of state, our market is subject to the weaknesses of markets around the country. If homes are not selling in southern California, we won’t have very many buyers in Sequim. But when the market gets hot elsewhere, the Sequim real estate market gets hot.
